Dr. Christina Hawkins was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology, with a minor in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, from the University of Florida. She also founded a student organization, the Minority Pre-Veterinary Club, to promote diversity in the field of veterinary medicine. Dr. Hawkins graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 with certificates in shelter medicine and business management. Starting her career as a small animal general practitioner , Dr. Hawkins is now fulfilling her passion as a community veterinarian at the ASPCA to provide veterinary care and high-quality high-volume spay/neuter services to under-resourced areas. She currently serves as the Vice President of Scholarships for the South Florida chapter of the UF Black Alumni Association and is a member of both the National Association of Black Veterinarians and the Black DVM Network. Dr. Hawkins also mentors pre-vet students and participates in career day and community presentations to teach others about veterinary medicine.
