Title: Creating a coalition of cat trappers: Working together to create a better community for cats and people

Description:

How does a Community Cat Program meet the demands of the public when there are thousands of cats in need of Trap Neuter (Vaccinate) Return?  One strategy being implemented by a coalition in Southern Arizona is consistent and weekly trapping events. Through the trapping “event” called Cat Trapping Tuesday, colonies of 50+ cats can be trapped in one evening with a group of volunteers, rather than take several days for a single staff member. This presentation will cover the unique challenges of building a coalition of volunteer cat trappers, strategies for tackling group trapping and encouraging independent trapping, and what challenges to expect.
